Surf City Mural

The Town of Surf City's Beautification and Enhancement Committee worked hard to plan and prepare the Town for its first public art installation. From location to artist selection and event planning, dedication, hard work, and generous donations made this a huge success.

Local artist David Mercer provided the Town with a beautiful mural that places emphasis on the sea turtle-loving, history-filled hometown that we all know and love, whether we live here year-round or visit as often as we can.

In January of 2023, the Town of Surf City's Beautification and Enhancement Committee began preparing the mural sight by pressure washing and priming the wall. The primer was generously donated by Coastal Paints!

After approximately 60 hours, artist David Mercer completed the mural featuring a sea turtle, the old swing bridge, a Bumblebee tower, a ferry boat, and an oceanside scene including a sand castle, oyster shells, a pair of beach chairs, and an umbrella.
