Status Update of Tropical Storm Idalia:  

 (8/28/23) The Town of Surf City continues to closely monitor the development of Tropical Storm Idalia. As the official National Hurricane Center’s forecast has our area in the potential storm trajectory cone, we recommend you review your household preparedness plan and kit to ensure you have the tools needed to be as prepared as possible. In addition, if you are not signed up for CodeRED, our community notification platform, please do so by visiting surfcitync.gov/codered. Once signed up, save the following numbers to your devices contact list: 1-855-969-4636 used for general messaging, and 910-550-2521 used for emergency notifications only.  As we continue to monitor Idalia’s track and progression, make sure you are getting accurate information from vetted sources, such as the Town’s official website and social media accounts, National Weather Service,  National Hurricane Center, and local media outlets. Beware of information found on social media and unofficial sources as it may not be accurate. We will continue to monitor Idalia and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
